Doug Mead oversees maintenance operations for SubTropolis, the world’s largest underground business complex.
Doug joined Hunt Midwest in 2023 and has more than 20 years of managerial and operations experience. He leads the SubTropolis facilities team that is responsible for all building, infrastructure, vehicle, equipment, preventive maintenance, and tenant-facing work order systems and processes. His focus on staff growth and training has helped the facilities team complete more technical upgrade and repair tasks in house to better serve tenants.
Doug also plays an integral role in the annual Groundhog Run 5K/10K benefiting children at Ability KC’s Mary Shaw Branton Therapeutic Preschool, hosted entirely underground at SubTropolis every year since 1982. He and his facilities team donate hundreds of volunteer hours every year to prepare the SubTropolis racecourse and common areas for thousands of runners and visitors supporting the nonprofit’s mission.
