TYLER SCHYVINCK

Manager
Facilities

Tyler Schyvinck is responsible for capital improvements, lease renewals, tenant improvements, fire and life system maintenance, and structural geological maintenance at Hunt Midwest’s SubTropolis, the world’s largest underground business complex.

Tyler joined Hunt Midwest in 2020 and has more than a decade of experience in facilities and operations management. He helps oversee the Hunt Midwest facilities team and leads capital improvement projects throughout SubTropolis, including renovations and improvements to industrial spaces for new and existing tenants. He leads the facilities structural and capital teams and works closely with expert geologists who maintain and monitor the structural integrity of SubTropolis, which began as a lateral limestone mining operation in the 1930s before the companies that are now Hunt Midwest began to re-use the space into industrial warehousing and manufacturing space. The team spends months studying and preparing undeveloped former-mine space to facilitate the shale removal and construction necessary to convert it into new Class A industrial space. Tyler’s work has helped renew more than 2.5 million square feet and create more than 1 million new square feet inside SubTropolis, which now includes almost 8 million leasable square feet with plans to expand to 14 million square feet. He previously worked for more than eight years at Starlight Theatre, one of the nation’s oldest and largest premier outdoor concert and theatrical venues, where he rose from Operations Intern to Facilities Manager.

Tyler is a member of the International Facility Managers Association and a past member of the group’s young professionals committee. He has certifications and professional development in OSHA 10 General Industry Safety and Health, CPR and AED training, and Missouri Fire Fighting 1 and 2 licenses.

Tyler pursued a bachelor’s degree in theater from the University of Central Missouri and has volunteered in the Olathe school district technical theatre department, teaching the next generation of set-builders and technical production staff important skills. He lives in Kansas City, Missouri.
