Jon Moody is responsible for supervising and coordinating the safety and security of Hunt Midwest, its property, its tenants, and the thousands of employees working at SubTropolis, the world’s largest underground business complex. 

Jon joined Hunt Midwest in 2017 and has more than two decades of law enforcement and security experience. He has helped expand and modernize the company’s security capabilities at SubTropolis to better protect Hunt Midwest and its tenants, including a five-year effort to upgrade the video surveillance, radio, and alarm systems serving the almost 8 million square feet of leased industrial space and 3,000 working employees in the business park. He also coordinates with local fire, police, and emergency services agencies, preparing them for the unique environment should they be called to SubTropolis and helping them respond quickly and safely when they must. Jon previously served for 14 years as a deputy sheriff and 911 dispatch administrator with the Clay County Sheriff’s Department in Piggott, Arkansas. 

Jon is a member of the National Fire Protection Association’s Subterranean Spaces committee, which oversees and updates the NFPA 520 national fire code standards that provide minimum requirements for the design, operation, and maintenance of developed subterranean spaces. He also is a member of ASIS International and InfraGard, a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and individuals in the private sector for the protection of U.S. critical infrastructure. 

Jon pursued a criminal justice degree at Arkansas Northeastern College and earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry from Midwestern Baptist College, now Spurgeon College, where he created the school’s first security department. He worked for four years in West Africa as a Southern Baptist missionary through the International Mission Board and returned to the continent through his own nonprofit to for eight additional years to help communities in need and assist with church planning. Jon and his family reside in Gladstone, Missouri.
