Doug Mead oversees the maintenance operations for Hunt Midwest’s SubTropolis-based facilities department, which provides maintenance services for the almost 60 tenants and 8 million square feet of industrial space in the world’s largest underground business complex. 

As SubTropolis experiences record-setting growth in buildings, systems, infrastructure, and staff, Doug is focused on expanding maintenance staff and expanding training. He also manages all building, infrastructure, vehicle, equipment, preventive maintenance, and tenant-facing work order systems and processes. 

Doug has almost two decades of managerial experience in retail, including 17 years managing various Staples Inc. locations across Missouri and Kansas, during which he developed a reputation for rescuing under-performing locations. He also has served as top manager at store locations for major national and regional companies such as Lowe’s, PetSmart, and Charlie’s Car Wash. 

Doug attended Missouri Southern State University and in 2005 earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from William Woods University. He supports the Veterans Community Project in Kansas City and lives in Lee’s Summit with his wife, Jennifer, their daughters Katie and Kylie, and their two dogs, Macie and Jersey.
