Jon Birkel joined Hunt Midwest in 2014 as director of residential development. His focus is on project management and the development of new residential products and markets in Kansas City and multiple markets nationally. These markets include the expansion of senior living, assisted living and memory care properties, multifamily and mixed use. Jon has nearly 32 years of experience in architecture and design, planning, development, urban redevelopment, and project management of commercial, multifamily and single-family projects.
Jon is involved with the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) on the Board for Sustainable Places Policy Committee and is an adjunct professor of urban planning at University of Missouri-Kansas City. Jon serves on the Prairie Village, Kansas, Planning and Board of Zoning Commissions, and the Board for Inter Urban ArtHouse, a nonprofit community arts organization in Overland Park, Kansas.
Jon is a graduate of Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning and Design. He and his family have been residents of Prairie Village, Kansas.
